Charts Recap for September 13th - 19th, 2021

A new week means a new weekly top-ten best-sellers chart here at Sonic Boom Records. We’ve got a stable top-ten with half of last week’s ten holding on to spots this week and the top two records unchanged but swapped. This week KACEY MUSGRAVES managed to outsell Low with her latest record Star-Crossed. (Selling copies on ALL THREE formats no less!) Kacey’s latest is a breakup record that has sparked a bit of a fire in this next-gen country songwriter. Give a listen.

We’ve also got a bit of a cult-classic making a rare chart appearance this week with british experimental combo COIL scoring a rare chart placement at number five. Love’s Secret Domain, arguably one of the occult electronic outfits high water marks, is available on vinyl for the first time since its release way back in 1991. Read up on the record’s unique sound and history in our recent STAFF PICK feature.

And our highest charting (non-holiday related) new-release this week is way down at the number ten spot with Local Valley, the newest music from indie-folk artist JOSE GONZALEZ. This is his first proper “solo” record in years, but his sound is strong and intact, showcasing his gentle stripped down arrangements of his mostly acoustic compositions. Also, its a tri-lingual record with songs in English, Spanish, and Swedish.
