Charts Recap: May 3rd - 9th, 2021

We’ve got May’s first set of best-sellers posted at our website. Big shake up this week, along with a brand new number-one record from an old favorite. The much missed AMY WINEHOUSE is back on top with the At The BBC live collection officially released last Friday. She was a singer’s singer and naturally thrived in a live setting, as this set can attest. The sessions are pulled from various appearances from 2004-2009 and are filled with soul and life.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We’ve got a hot debut charting high at number three this week too. SQUID made an impressive splash in our charts with their first full-length Bright Green Field. The UK band nicely marries complexity and experimentation with hooks and melody. Noticing a trend where a lot of the best new and adventurous rock music seems to be coming from across the pond again!

And our top charting new reissue this week is the latest entry in Blue Note Records’ new Tone Poet reissue series. Pianist and composer ANDREW HILL has the latest installment in the series with his 1969 sessions Passing Ships placing at number seven this week. The records was unheard until its CD release in 2003, and this edition is its first official vinyl release. This is a high quality edition of a high quality recording. All the Tone Poet reissues are audiophile quality from a label you can trust on such matters.
