Charts Recap: April 5th - 11th, 2021

A brand new week means a brand new top-ten here at Sonic Boom. 2021’s most dominant record in these charts has once again retaken the top slot this week, bumping Godspeed You Black Emperor down to number two after their week on top. It is Collapsed In Sunbeams from ARLO PARKS back at number-one after spending all February there. Stock of this LP has been spotty since then, but we’ve got plenty of copies now! This has been the undisputed debut of the year thus far, showing that word-of-mouth staying power among our best-sellers. A true mark of quality.

THE STROKES managed two records in our charts this week, with their debut Is This It pulling in at number 8 and last year’s appropriately titled The New Abnormal hitting number 5. Maybe its the right sound for Spring, maybe its 20 year nostalgia, or maybe this recent chart strength is fueled by last month’s Grammy win. Either way, an impressive showing from the classic rock-is-backers.

Also this past week sadly saw the passing of DMX, one of the realest rappers of his generation. His best-of set The Legacy (now sold-out) correspondingly appears in our charts this week. We fully endorse turning up one of his hits in remembrance, the memorial spin is a tradition we can support. The music lives on.
