For fans of: Classic Soul Music.

What they're saying: Music historian Ed Ward had this to say of the singer in a 2015 NPR feature: “Barbara Lynn's Atlantic sides show a woman at the peak of her powers as a songwriter and interpreter. But somehow, Atlantic wasn't able to push her over the top. She toured some, then retired to raise her three kids.”

What we say: We highly recommend picking up The Atlantic Years, a reissued limited-edition collection of the prime-cuts from this 60's R&B guitarist from Texas. Great voice, great production, great playing. Barbara Lynn should be as well known as her label mates of the era, which included Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett. If you consider those artists classics, you must hear Barbara Lynn.
