Charts Recap: February 17th - 23rd, 2020

There is another new title in the best-seller position in this week’s charts! The hotly anticipated Miss Anthropocene from Grimes knocked Tame Impala back to number-two after only a week at the top. Miss Anthropocene is a dark and singular pop record, exploring themes and moods many pop-artists wouldn’t dare stray into. Another fascinating record from Grimes, we wouldn’t expect less and imagine it will hang in our charts for some time to come.

At number three this week we have another new entrant into our charts. Courtney Barnett’s MTV Unplugged is, as you might expect, an acoustic performance from the revived franchise. It’s a selection of familiar tunes and cover songs played along with some friends and frequent collaborators, and makes for a great new way to experience Courtney’s music.

We also finally got some restocks on one of our best-selling soul/funk records of 2019. The Black Pumas self-titled LP found its way back to our shop and onto the charts at number six. We highly recommend this spot-on record from the Austin based group. It joins fellow Texan soul record Texas Sun from Leon Bridges & Khruangbin in this top-ten. Is it too soon to say Texas-soul might be a thing to watch in the 2020s?
