Charts Recap: December 21st - 27th, 2020

We’ve got our top-sellers from a busy Christmas week tabulated and posted, and we’ve got a new number one record! STURGILL SIMPSON is on top this week with his first foray into bluegrass music Cuttin’ Grass. We bet this was a popular gift this Christmas. He’s mostly giving the bluegrass treatment to his favorite old tunes here. Vol. 2 is due out soon too, if your digging this one.

Most of the rest of our top-ten this week is filled out with some of the biggest and best-loved records of the year. (We also recently posted about our best-loved records of 2020 on our blog.) But we do have a few new entries into our charts. TAYLOR SWIFT now has TWO records in our top-ten with the physical release of Evermore. This is the companion piece to Folklore from the same sessions. Both are still CD only, we’ll keep you posted on when this changes.

And let us salute the end of our holiday season with what will likely be the last appearance of a Christmas LP in our charts till this time next 2021. JOHN DENVER and THE MUPPETS snuck into the number ten spot with their seasonal comfort classic Christmas Together. The 1979 record has been repressed for the 21st century and is fine nostalgic pick for Christmas morning spin. Check with us at the shop for any deals we might make on holiday records this January.
