We’ve got another new number-one record in our best-seller charts this week again! The former Pavement front-man Stephen Malkmus has a new record out called Traditional Techniques that was able to upset mega-sellers by Grimes and Tame Impala for the top spot. It’s another genre departure for the indie-rock icon, this time he’s dabbling in some pure folk tones. The new direction suits the singer, but genre aside its still pure SM.

At number 5 this week is the reissue of the long out-of-circulation Teenage Snuff Film from Rowland S. Howard. Rowland got his start as guitarist in goth-punk legends The Birthday Party, but this is deep into his career as a moody post-punk auteur and was released originally in 1999. This record had a life as a cult favorite in Australia though this is its first US release.

Also new to our top-ten list this week is Heavy Light by shop favorites U.S. Girls. The new one is a natural expansion on her sounds from her last album In Poem Unlimited’s experimental pop. In a recent four star review The Guardian says Heavy Light “confirms a major talent.” We agree.
