Charts Recap: July 23rd - July 29th, 2018

Wow! Wire rules the charts for this last full week of July! It looks like word is out that there are finally high-quality reissues of this LONG out-of-print trio of classics, which are the first three Wire records. If you are unfamiliar with the original UK art-punks, Stereogum did an excellent countdown of the best Wire records a few years back; here's the link. (Editor's note: The Drill rules and shouldn't be last.) Spoiler: our best-seller is number one.

Elsewhere in the charts, The Internet continues to sell records. It's a fine example of modern R&B done right, the single 'Come Over' is totally addictive. I'll leave a link in case you haven't heard it yet.

Local records are hanging tough. We still have Wimps, Sandrider, Jenn Champion, and Thunderpussy hanging around in the top-tens.

Shout out to Parquet Courts. I'm pretty sure Wide Awake is the record that's been lurking in our charts for the longest time now. Strong showing this week with a #4 placement! Trust an insider, a record selling well after the hype cycle has died down around it is a true trademark of quality.

The CD charts have a familiar #1 with Neko back in the top spot. The only big mover is God's Favorite Customer bouncing up to #2 after a few weeks out of the top-ten. Otherwise we've got some familiar covers shuffled around.
