The DUTCHESS and the DUKE: Kimberly Morrison and Jesse Lortz. Two kids hanging out together, growing up together, having fun together. Two kids pissed off at each other, picking on each other, blaming each other, calling each other's bullshit. Two kids playing in all sorts of bands for years. Sometimes together, many times apart. Through all the years they've known each other, however unforeseen, however ridiculous, the result has always been inevitable.
Boom Across The World

For years, we here at Sonic Boom Records have been referring to ourselves as a "world renowned record shop." Now we want to prove it and only you, the faithful consumer, can help us do it. That's why we are asking you to send in pictures of yourselves or your music-loving friends sporting our fashionable t-shirts in exotic locales. The pyramids! Atlantis! The Great Wall of China! Disney World! The polar ice caps! If you are somewhere exciting and wearing your Sonic Boom gear then we want to see it! The best pictures will be featured on our website in new "Boom Across the World" section along with hot pictures of famous rockers flying the Sonic Boom flag. Internet-fame is only a photograph away!

Principles of Geometry - Lazarebuy this
This really could also be a “customer pick” since a loyal customer is the one who tipped me off to this gem. But thank God he did. Principles of Geometry are one of the best things to fall in my lap in 2008. If Boards of Canada took a time machine thirty years into the future, with Giorgio Moroder behind the wheel, this is what you’d hear blasting from loud speakers of some cyber-tronic dystopia. Ethereal, damaged, cut-up sinister, and warm, Lazare is definitely an album that yields repeated listens to make complete sense of it. Stand out tracks include “A Mountain For President” with Sebastien Tellier on vocoder duties (also available as a 12” single with remixes), a song that seriously grooves. Though the album is heavy on the instrumental side, it finds space for guest vocalists like Def Jux’s Hangar 18 and Vast Aire of Antipop Consortium. - Travis Ritter

King Khan & the Shrines - Supreme Geniusbuy this
If you missed the chance to snag up the now-out-of-print import LPs of the soul-punk-psych outfit, King Khan & the Shrines, Vice Records is here to make all your dreams come true. Vice has compiled some of the choicest cuts from The Shrines past records (including many from my personal fave, What Is?!) and a couple new ones to satisfy long-time fans itching for the latest and greatest. Sure, you could say The Supreme Genius is essentially a KK&tS greatest hits collection, but is there a King Khan song that isn’t great or a potential hit? Absolutely not. They don’t call him the supreme genius for nothing. - Travis Ritter

Plantlife - Time Travellerbuy this
Get the funk out! This ought to bring the sunshine and a few unplanned pregnancies this summer (don’t forget to leave the house without protection!) Plantlife combines the ingredients of Shuggie Otis, Prince, Quasimoto, The Chi-Lites, and Midnight Star, and cooks them into one electro-grease casserole. Yes, he is a “time traveler,” going back to the early 80s, when people were creating electro-funk with keytars and talk boxes, and jive pimps were actually good songwriters. This has plenty of summahtime hits for 2008. Put the top down, but don’t forget: no parking on the dance floor. - Travis Ritter
